As an integral member of the pediatric heart program, the incoming anesthesiologist will provide a combination of cardiac and general pediatric anesthetic services. The evolving heart program includes cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology, and the current team consists of:
One dedicated pediatric cardiac surgeon
One interventional cardiologist
One electrophysiologist
One pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist
The successful candidate will work closely with a team of 11 general anesthesiologists, contributing to complex congenital cardiac cases while also participating in the broader pediatric surgical services. The position does not require in-house overnight call ; instead, call responsibilities are rotated and handled from home, shared among a collaborative group that includes part-time, as-needed cardiac anesthesia providers.
Administer anesthetics to infants, children, and adolescents for a variety of surgical procedures, including congenital cardiac interventions.
Collaborate in the development and enhancement of a comprehensive pediatric cardiac anesthesia service.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity and quality of care in perioperative settings.
Participate in academic and educational initiatives as part of an expanding clinical program.
Support performance improvement efforts, clinical protocols, and pediatric perioperative safety initiatives.
Minimum of 3–4 years of experience within a high-volume pediatric cardiac program .
Completion of an ACGME-accredited pediatric anesthesiology fellowship .
Additional fellowship or equivalent advanced training in pediatric cardiac anesthesia (preferably a dedicated one-year program).
Board Certification or Eligibility in Pediatric Anesthesiology .
Demonstrated expertise in managing congenital heart cases and working in pediatric perioperative settings.
Pediatric general and cardiac anesthesia administration
Congenital heart defect management during surgery
Proficiency with pediatric cardiac bypass protocols
Advanced monitoring for pediatric heart cases
Crisis management in pediatric operative environments
Team-based communication with surgical and intensive care staff
Experience with pediatric regional anesthesia techniques
Involvement in quality improvement and safety initiatives
Knowledge of pediatric pharmacology and hemodynamic monitoring
