Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Stay alert and keep an eye on blind spots for the driver.
• The assistant must get out of the truck at every location to help guide the team in parking spaces, garages, lots, docks, etc., ASSISTANT MUST ALWAYS BE VISIBLE ON MIRRORS SO THE DRIVER CAN SEE YOU. NEVER STAND DIRECTLY BEHIND A TRUCK WHEN IT IS BACKING UP.
• Ensure their vehicle is ready for the day’s pick up and/or delivery. Tablets, clip board, pen, orders are complete, blankets, stretch wrap, tape, boxes, tools and any material that may be needed and has been reviewed with dispatch, is to be replenished before the day starts.
• Keep manifest up to date by notating delivery timelines, expenses such as fuel and tolls and confirm inventory matches shipping documents.
• Guide driver by following along with maps and directions for time efficient routes.
• Help team audit orders when loading and when delivering to make sure items are correct and complete.
• Assist at beginning of route when loading the vehicle to auditing items and tags and load materials needed for pickups.
• Keep interior of vehicle clean of debris and clutter.
• Ensure cargo is secured.
• Take multiple pictures (10 minimum) at pickups and drop offs and notate conditions on the BOL and on the CRM.
• Notating any damages and discrepancies on BOL before customer signs at pickups.
• Obtain signatures and use site to complete orders after each job.
• Be diligent about following all operational procedures.
• Ensure that all items are tagged correctly when loading onto truck, this should not be left until the end of the day.
• Communicate any imperative information to the warehouse about a pickup piece with labels (example: loose leg, fragile, glass top, etc).
• Assisting with prevention of parking fines by reading signs and communicating with driver
• Complete manifest by notating delivery timelines, expenses such as fuel and tolls and confirm inventory matches shipping documents.
• Interact with customers and clients to ensure they're happy with the service they received.
• Preparing manifest and other documents relating to deliveries and pickups.
• Take pictures of items and upload all the info in the CRM & update conditions.
• Communicate with dispatch the location of the crew after every job either via phone call or by text.
• Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
• Providing excellent customer service, answering questions, and handling complaints from clients.
• Interact with customers and clients to ensure they're happy with the service they received.
• Blanket wrap, palletize, crate, pack and organize the truck as needed with items being delivered last are loaded first and items delivered first are loaded last.
• To know that all fragile items, including glass, marble, light fixtures are not loaded at the rear axle as this is the area with the most vibration.
• To keep constant communication with the dispatch office in any event that is out of the scope of the work to be performed. this may include requests to pick up/deliver items via stairway without the consent of the dispatch/office. Additional items to be disposed of, gifted or given to a crew as a payment for additional work.
• To communicate of any issues arising out of pick up/delivery items that may be damaged and need consent from the client to continue the service (pick up/delivery) under the current conditions.
• To report any damages, known or unknown at the time they occur.
• To report any accidents, of any kind and under any circumstance.
• To keep an eye on the road and assist the driver to make sure all available resources are being used – such as traffic patterns, knowledge of street closures, limits or any issue that may impede with pick up/delivery.
• Load pictures, get signatures, upload condition reports and finalize orders as the day progresses.
• Keep record using the daily manifest and finalize it at the end of the day.
• Load and unload all items and to assist with covering, wrapping, strapping and securing items as best possible and as a team.
• To assist the driver at all times during backing up, no exemptions.
• Not to fall asleep while working as it may not be paid if it is known by management.
• To tag all items as they are unloaded.
• To check with the warehouse with the appropriate location to unload all items and place in the corresponding area – warehouse, shuttle, shipping.
