About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Margin Lending Analyst to join our Private Wealth Management (PWM) Margin Lending team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of margin calculations, monitoring, and exception management. The successful candidate will help maintain regulatory compliance, uphold client service standards, and provide essential support to financial advisors.

This position offers exposure across multiple functions, encouraging cross-training and broad product knowledge. Analysts are entrusted with meaningful responsibility early on and are encouraged to contribute innovative ideas that drive efficiency and add value. You’ll work closely with partners across Risk, Credit, Sales, and Technology—requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Margin Call Issuance & Monitoring: Perform daily margin calculations, validate call amounts, and issue margin calls in line with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Exception Handling: Identify, investigate, and resolve margin exceptions, including non-call issuances and late liquidations, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Manual Support: Deliver manual margin calculations and overrides for high-value or complex accounts not handled by automated systems.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Apply and interpret margin rules (e.g., Reg T, FINRA 4210) to ensure full adherence to governance frameworks.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of margin activity, support audit and regulatory requests, and assist with control documentation.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with internal stakeholders, including Risk, Credit, and Technology, to address queries and drive operational improvements.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to initiatives that enhance the team’s efficiency, processes, and control environment.
  • Client Support: Manage and resolve client disputes or inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Projects & Initiatives: Participate in departmental and cross-regional projects and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities with the capacity to meet tight deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of operational risk, control frameworks, and escalation procedures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including comfort with large datasets and numerical analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data tools or automation a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a client-focused mindset.
