Responsibilities The Answering Service Attendant answers calls and routine inquiries, routing to the intended destination. The role includes appropriately responding to and documenting emergency situations per policy and guidelines, acting as a part of a team (including training new employees), paging physicians, security, or employees as appropriate via radio, pagers, computer, or overhead PA system, following all documentation procedures, and completing additional tasks such as sorting and mailing messages during downtime, delivering messages to physician offices, and distributing daily sheets. After physician office hours, the attendant answers and documents patient calls, contacting the appropriate on‑call physician as necessary. The attendant maintains physician on‑call schedules at each workstation, the on‑call change book, and current monthly schedules. Qualifications Required Experience/Specialized Skills: Strong customer service skills, computer skills, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment using repetitive hand motion with the ability to multi‑task. Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification: Medical terminology, health care experience, and Call Center/PBX/Answering Service experience.
